Third Party Services Terms
Parts of the Pickup Platform rely on services from other companies, such as maps, payment providers, identity verification, sign in with Apple or Google and the app stores. What that means for you.
Updated 2 November 2026 · 11 min read
Version 3.0. Effective 2 November 2026.
In short
- Pickup uses named outside providers for hosting, maps, payments, identity checks, sign in, email, notifications, error monitoring, analytics, the AI help chat and app distribution.
- Those providers have their own terms and privacy policies. Some apply to you directly.
- We choose providers carefully and bind them by contract, but we are not responsible for services we do not control, except where the law says we are or the problem is our own fault. This does not limit liability for death, personal injury, gross negligence or fraud.
- If you download the app from Apple's App Store or Google Play, some extra terms apply, set out in section 6.
This summary is for convenience only. The numbered clauses below are the binding terms and govern if there is any difference.
1. About these terms
1.1 These Third Party Services Terms ("Terms") are issued by Pickup Technology Limited, RC 9548096, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, Nigeria, trading as Pickup Charter ("Pickup", "we", "us").
1.2 They form part of the Terms of Use, the umbrella agreement for using Pickup, and of the Guest Terms and the Operator Agreement. Words with capital letters have the meaning given in those terms.
1.3 A "Third Party Service" is a service, software, content or website provided by someone other than Pickup that you use through, or that supports, the Platform.
2. The services we rely on
| Service | What it does | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| Maps and location (Google Maps Platform) | Shows pickup points, routes, live trip tracking and estimated times | Map data and estimated times come from the provider and may be inaccurate. Follow road signs and your crew's directions. See clause 2.2 |
| Payments (Flutterwave) | Takes card and bank transfer payments in naira, and pays Operators by transfer at the release time in the Payments Terms | Flutterwave is a licensed payment provider. Card details go straight to it; Pickup never sees or stores your full card number. Its terms apply to the payment itself. See clause 2.3 and the Payments Terms |
| Identity verification (Dojah) | Checks identity documents and runs the facial match for Guests, and director and crew checks for Operators | Dojah processes your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Facial data is used only with your explicit consent, and there is a manual review if you refuse. See the Privacy Policy and the Biometric Data Notice |
| Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In | Let you sign in with your Apple or Google account, if you choose | See clause 2.4 |
| Email delivery (Resend) | Sends one time sign in codes, booking updates and messages. Pickup sends sign in codes by email only, never by SMS or WhatsApp | Delivery depends on your email provider and device. Check your spam folder and tap Resend in the app for a new code |
| Push notifications (Expo, with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Send app notifications | You can turn them off in your device settings, but you may miss trip updates |
| Hosting and data (Vercel for the website and staff console; Supabase for the database, sign in and file storage) | Run the website and staff console, and store account and booking data | Stored outside Nigeria, on the transfer bases in the Privacy Policy |
| Error monitoring and product analytics (Sentry; PostHog, hosted in the EU) | Find faults and show how features are used, in the app | Analytics asks for your consent at first launch. The website has neither. See the Cookie Policy |
| AI help chat and listing photo checks (Anthropic) | Powers the automated help chat and labels listing photos | See section 4 |
| App stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) | Distribute the Pickup apps | See section 6 |
2.1 The full list of providers that process personal data for us, and the countries where they process it, is on the Sub-processors page. We give at least 30 days' notice before adding or changing a provider that handles sensitive personal data, such as identity documents or facial data, or that processes data in a new country.
2.2 Google Maps. Parts of the Platform use Google Maps. By using those features you agree to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (maps.google.com/help/terms_maps) and acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). Trip location is collected only from 1 hour before the trip starts to 1 hour after it ends, as the Privacy Policy explains.
2.3 Payments. Payments are processed by Flutterwave, a licensed payment provider, and its terms and privacy notice apply to that step. Pickup collects as the Operator's limited payment collection agent. The money stays in Pickup's balance with Flutterwave until it is paid to the Operator by transfer or refunded. Pickup is not a bank, deposit taker, e-money issuer or escrow agent. Guests pay in naira. Prices shown in another currency are for display only. Flutterwave's checks (including 3D Secure, fraud, anti money laundering and sanctions screening) may delay, hold or decline a payment or payout. Pickup is not responsible for Flutterwave's own failure, delay or decision, except where the law makes us responsible or it was caused by our own breach or negligence. The Payments Terms set out what happens in each case.
2.4 Sign in with Apple and Google. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, that provider confirms your identity and shares with us only your name, your email address (or an Apple relay address) and an account identifier. Apple's or Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that step. We never receive your Apple or Google sign in details. If you lose access to your Apple or Google account, contact support@pickupcharter.com. Once we have confirmed it is you, we move your Pickup account to sign in by email code.
3. Your use of Third Party Services
3.1 By using a feature that relies on a Third Party Service, you agree to use it in line with the provider's terms that apply to you. We tell you where a provider's terms apply directly, for example when you pay, complete identity verification or sign in with Apple or Google.
3.2 We select providers with reasonable care, and we require them by contract to protect your data and provide their services properly. We are responsible for the Platform as described in the Terms of Use, Guest Terms and Operator Agreement. We are not responsible for a Third Party Service's own acts or failures, or for losses caused by them, except where the law makes us responsible or the loss was caused by our own breach or negligence.
3.3 A Third Party Service may change, be interrupted or stop. Where that affects a Platform feature, we keep the feature working or offer an alternative where we reasonably can, and we tell you before a feature you rely on stops. If a provider failure stops a Booking going ahead, the refund rules in the Cancellation and Refund Policy apply.
3.4 You must not misuse a Third Party Service through the Platform, for example by trying to get around Flutterwave's limits or checks, or by scraping map data.
4. The AI help chat
4.1 The help chat. The help chat in Profile > Help is an automated AI assistant, not a person, and it says so. It answers questions and helps you use the Platform. Before your first message, the app tells you that what you type, your first name, and your recent trips, totals and refunds go to our AI provider, Anthropic, and asks for your separate consent. Its answers are information only, not advice, and may be incomplete or wrong. It does not make decisions about refunds, claims, disputes, suspensions or safety: a person in our team makes those decisions. A person joins when you choose Talk to a person, whether or not you agree to the chat. Do not share sign in codes, full card numbers, identity numbers or other sensitive information with it. In an emergency, call 112.
4.2 Anthropic processes conversations on our behalf under contract and may not use them to train its own models. See the Privacy Policy.
5. Links to other websites
5.1 The Platform and our website may link to websites and services we do not control, such as regulators, airports, news sites and partners. We include links for convenience. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
6. App store terms
6.1 These terms apply if you download a Pickup app from the Apple App Store or Google Play ("App Store"). In this section, the "app" means the Pickup app you downloaded.
6.2 Apple. If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store:
(a) Acknowledgement. These Terms, the Terms of Use, the Guest Terms and the Operator Agreement are between you and Pickup only, not Apple. Pickup, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. If these terms give you fewer rights than the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions allow on the subject of app use, the App Store terms apply to that extent;
(b) Scope of licence. Your licence to use the app is a non transferable licence to use it on Apple branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing;
(c) Maintenance and support. Pickup, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app, as set out in these Terms and the Terms of Use, and Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app;
(d) Warranty. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (the app is free, so there is no purchase price to refund). To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses arising from a failure to meet a warranty are Pickup's responsibility, to the extent our terms and the law make Pickup responsible;
(e) Product claims. Pickup, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party about the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws;
(f) Intellectual property. If a third party claims the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, Pickup, not Apple, is solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim;
(g) Legal compliance. You confirm you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo or that has been designated by the United States Government as a terrorist supporting country, and you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
(h) Developer name and address. Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to Pickup Technology Limited, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, Nigeria, at support@pickupcharter.com, or for legal matters legal@pickupltd.com;
(i) Third party terms. You must comply with any third party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile network's terms; and
(j) Third party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these app store terms and, once you accept them, have the right (and are treated as having accepted the right) to enforce them against you.
6.3 Google. If you download the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of Google Play. Pickup, not Google, is responsible for the app, its content and its support. Google is not a party to our terms.
6.4 No in app purchases from the stores. Bookings are payments for transport services provided outside the app, so they are paid through Flutterwave, not through Apple or Google billing. App Store terms apply to the download only. Your use of the Platform is governed by the Terms of Use and the Guest Terms or the Operator Agreement.
6.5 Account deletion. You can delete your account inside the app, as the Privacy Policy explains. Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account.
7. Your rights
7.1 Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, or any other law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death, personal injury, gross negligence, fraud, or anything the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 does not allow Pickup to exclude.
8. Changes, law and contact
8.1 We may update these Terms, for example when we change a provider. We give at least 30 days' notice of a material change in the app or by email. A change forced by a provider, by the law or by a safety or security risk may take effect immediately. If you keep using the Platform after the effective date, you accept the change; you may close your account instead.
8.2 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are resolved under the dispute terms that apply to you, as the Terms of Use set out.
8.3 Contact: in app support, support@pickupcharter.com, or legal@pickupltd.com.
