Cleaning charges and smoking rules

Smoking, food and heavy soiling on a car, boat or jet, and how a cleaning claim works. Every charge must be evidenced.

Every guest should find the car, boat or aircraft clean when they board. Operators work hard to keep it that way, and a few rules help.

Smoking and vaping

Do not smoke or vape in a chauffeur driven car or a chartered aircraft. On a vessel, smoke only if the captain allows it and only where they say. Smoking where it is not allowed can lead to a cleaning claim, and on an aircraft it is a safety offence.

Food and drink

  • Follow the listing and your operator's rules on food and drink.
  • Ask before opening drinks in a car.
  • Use the bins or bags provided.
  • On a vessel, the captain can stop drinks service at any time.

Heavy soiling

Leaving a vehicle, vessel or aircraft in a state that needs more than a routine clean may result in a cleaning claim. Examples include:

  • Spilled drinks or food soaked into upholstery.
  • Vomit or other bodily fluids.
  • Smoke odour.
  • Sand, mud or litter left in quantity.

If illness strikes, tell your chauffeur or crew straight away so they can help.

How a cleaning claim works

A cleaning claim is handled like any damage claim:

  1. The operator reports it in the app within 72 hours of the trip ending, with time stamped photos and the cleaning cost.
  2. You are told, shown the evidence and have at least 7 days to accept or dispute it.
  3. If you dispute it, Pickup reviews the evidence and shares an outcome with reasons.

There is no fixed cleaning fee. The charge is limited to the reasonable, evidenced cost of cleaning, plus any evidenced booking the operator lost while it was cleaned. Over ₦250,000, an independent estimate or invoice is required. See clause 22 of the Guest Terms.
