Aircraft airworthiness

Why airworthiness stays with you as the NCAA AOC holder, what Pickup checks for each aircraft, and what to do when an aircraft goes out of service.

Airworthiness, maintenance and every operational decision about your aircraft are your responsibility as the holder of the Air Operator's Certificate. Pickup lists your charter service. It does not operate, maintain or dispatch aircraft.

What stays with you

  • Maintaining each aircraft to NCAA requirements and your approved maintenance programme.
  • Keeping airworthiness and maintenance records current.
  • Crew licensing, currency and duty limits.
  • Deciding whether a flight can operate safely and legally.

Pickup does not review maintenance records or certify airworthiness.

What Pickup checks

At listing, and through expiry dates after that, Pickup checks the documents you upload:

  • Your AOC.
  • Each aircraft's Certificate of Airworthiness and Certificate of Registration.
  • Operations specifications that list the aircraft. Aircraft only permitted for private non commercial flight cannot be listed.
  • Your aircraft insurance.
  • The licences and medicals of your flight crew.

A daily check pauses any listing whose document has expired, and cancels its upcoming bookings. See Keeping documents current.

If an aircraft goes out of service

  1. Block its dates in the calendar with the reason Maintenance. See Blocking dates for maintenance.
  2. For confirmed charters, message the guest in the app as early as you can.
  3. Offer another aircraft from your own listings, of the same category or bigger. The guest decides.
  4. If you cannot operate the flight, cancel with The aircraft has a technical issue, and add your evidence within 24 hours. See Weather and safety cancellations.

If your AOC changes

Tell Pickup through operator support if your AOC or operations specifications are varied, suspended or revoked. Listings that no longer match are suspended.

See Listing private jets and the Operator Agreement.
