What are the daylight and weather rules for boat trips?

The rules every boat trip follows: daylight hours only, life jackets worn at all times, and the captain deciding when weather makes it unsafe.

Every boat trip on Pickup runs in daylight hours only, with life jackets worn by everyone aboard at all times.

Daylight only

Boat trips run in daylight: departure after sunrise and return before sunset. This is a rule of Lagos waterways, and operators cannot switch it off. Night trips are not offered on Pickup. Bookings must start and end in daylight. Never accept a booking, or an extension, that would run after dark. Set your Last departure under Weather and daylight.

Life jackets

Carry life jackets for the full certified capacity, and make sure everyone wears one throughout the trip.

Weather

Your captain decides whether conditions are safe. If wind, waves, visibility or a regulator's notice make a trip unsafe:

  • Choose Start 1 hour later if that stays in daylight, Offer a new date or Cancel for weather on the booking.
  • The guest picks a new date or takes a full refund.
  • A genuine safety call is never counted against you.

If Pickup declares a major disruptive event, such as a waterway closure, the Major Disruptive Events Policy applies instead.

Capacity

Never carry more people than the vessel's certified capacity, including any crew or security personnel. Infants count toward the limit.

Jetties

You choose where guests board. Pickup doesn't control third party jetties and doesn't promise they are safe. Check each boarding point yourself.
