How does Pickup check my insurance?

How Pickup checks your insurance documents for cars, boats and aircraft, and what happens when a policy renews or lapses.

Insurance is a hard requirement. No listing goes live until staff have checked the insurance document for that asset, and a listing is paused if cover lapses. Pickup checks the document. It doesn't sell insurance and names no insurer.

Cars

  • A motor policy written for commercial use (hire and reward). A private use policy is not accepted.
  • Luxury cars need comprehensive commercial cover. Standard cars need a hire and reward passenger endorsement.
  • Charter Elite needs comprehensive commercial cover on every car.

Boats and yachts

Commercial marine insurance with passenger liability and hull cover.

Aircraft

Aircraft insurance that complies with the Montreal Convention.

Renewals

  1. Upload the renewed certificate before the old one expires. We remind you 30, 14 and 3 days before.
  2. We check it. Your listing stays live while we do.
  3. If the old certificate expires first, the listing is paused automatically and its upcoming bookings are cancelled. It goes live again once the renewal is checked.

Tell us about changes

Tell Pickup within 24 hours if any cover is cancelled, suspended, reduced or refused.
