A chauffeur may drive for no more than 5 and a half hours continuously and no more than 10 and a half hours in any 24 hours. These limits come from the Lagos State transport rules and apply to every car booking on Pickup.
Planning long bookings
- Full day hires: one chauffeur drives each booking. Build breaks into the day so the driving stays within both limits. Long days on your listing sets how many hours you offer.
- Waiting is not driving, but it is still a long day. Plan rest and meals.
- Back to back bookings: the app counts the driving in each booking for the same chauffeur, and won't let you assign someone who would go over the limit.
Extensions
The app won't offer an extension that takes your chauffeur past the limit. Check breaks and rest before you accept any other. Pickup does not offer a second or relief chauffeur on a booking.
Why it matters
Tired chauffeurs cause accidents. Breaking the limits is a safety failure that can lead to suspension of the chauffeur, the listing or your account, and may breach your licence conditions.
Boats and aircraft
Captains and flight crew follow the duty and rest rules for their own licences, set by LASWA, NIWA or NIMASA and the NCAA.
The rules are in Verification and Compliance and the Crew Terms.
