You can book a chauffeur for a full day. For long bookings, the operator plans around the legal limits on how long one chauffeur can drive.
Driving hour limits
The law limits a professional chauffeur to no more than 5 and a half hours of driving without a break, and no more than 10 and a half hours of driving in any 24 hours. Operators on Pickup follow these limits, as set out in our Verification and Compliance standards. This is for your safety as much as the chauffeur's.
What this means for your booking
- For a long day, the operator plans breaks within the legal limits. Hours booked are not hours driven, and waiting at stops does not count.
- The app will not offer an extension that would take your chauffeur past the limits.
- If the operator changes your chauffeur for another reason, the new chauffeur is verified, and you see their name and photo in the app.
Planning a long day
- Book the full time you expect to need, with a little spare.
- Add your stops in the app before or during the trip, so the chauffeur can plan the route.
- Plan a meal break for the chauffeur. A rested chauffeur drives more safely.
- If plans change, ask to extend in the app. See How to extend a booking.
Price
The listing shows the total price for the hours you choose, including Pickup's service fee, VAT on the fee and the road levy where it applies. Extra hours are priced at the listing's hourly rate and shown before you confirm.
Bookings of 7 days or more
For a car booked for 7 days or more, the operator is paid weekly: each completed 7 days 1 hour after those 7 days end, and the rest 1 hour after the trip ends, provided you have not reported a problem. See How your payment is held until your trip.
